Shikigami Wars - Rikugou - A Robot With Removable Armor Paper Toy
by Brother

Offered by the Japanese version of Brother website, this paper toy of Rikugou, a robot with removable armor, is part of a series of robots with the same characteristics and seems to belong to a game that, despite having tried, I simply couldn't understand how. plays.

What I could understand is that all the robots (there are eight in total) use the same base (link at the end of the post) and what changes are the armor.

I was also able to find out that each character's armor pieces can be mixed, which influences the defense and attack strength of each robot in the game.

Even without understanding the rules of the game, paper toys are really cool and I'm sure they will please fans of robots and papercrafts with a Sci-Fi theme.

The link to the main page with all the robots and rules is also below. Who knows, someone fluent in Japanese could try to understand the rules of the game and explain it in the comments.

Roundheads And Cavaliers Boardgame Papercraft For Kids
by British Heritage

"It’s 1643 and the Civil War between the Roundheads and the Cavaliers is raging, but who will get the upper hand?

Choose your side and embark on a race to the finish by becoming the first to beseige and claim all 12 English Heritage castles across the country!

The fate of England is in your hands, but have you got what it takes to claim victory?

Challenge a friend to take up arms and battle to be the first person to claim all the castles.

To make the game, ask an adult to download the board templates and print them out for you.

Then stick the two pieces of the board game on to a thin, A3-sized piece of cardboard (or you can just sellotape them together).

Next, download the game piece templates, cut them out and stick them on to thin card too. Cut each figure out along with the half discs, which are used as the bases.

Ask an adult to cut through the line on the disc, but not all the way across, and to cut a notch in the bottom of each piece. Slot them together to make the figures stand up." - English Heritage

- - English Heritage"

Halloween Special - Escape From The Haunted Mansion Boardgame
by Robert Nava - via Disney Experience

Created by designer and model maker Robert Nava exclusively for the Disney Experience website, here is a board game to download, cut out and assemble inspired by the classic Haunted Mansion ride, an exclusive attraction at the Walt Disney World Resort.

The game is made up of a super detailed 3D board of the Haunted Mass, which in turn is divided into five distinct environments: attic, corridor with moving portraits, lobby, cemetery and garden.

The board itself is a spectacle in itself, with its impressive facade that looks great as a Halloween decoration. But the best part is the interior of the mansion, with its rooms, corridors and staircases that serve both for the game itself, as a stand for mini figures or as a playset for children.

The assembly instructions and game rules, illustrated and very well done, are available in three languages, English, Spanish and Portuguese.

There are several ways to play, from more complex for adults to simpler ones suitable for children. And if you're creative, you can make up your own rules.

If you liked the Haunted Mansion, know that the entire model (including the board, cards, dice and other accessories) occupies 59 printed sheets.

Magic, The Gatheing - Book Shaped Card Game Deck Box Papercraft
by Firebrand Creations

Created by designer and modeler Matt Milam, from Firebrand Creations website, here is a cool and unusual paper model of a Book Shaped Card Game Deck Box to your RPG and wargames acessories or just to decorate your shelf.

About this papercraft, Leo Firebrand said: "I have wanted to create a project that people could download and make themselves for a while now.

However creating the templates and instructions means you have to simplify the design significantly. I decided to do something that was not very complex and made a deck box for the card game Magic: The Gathering.

Not wanting to keep it too simple I made it look like an ancient tome. The finished product can hold 75 cards and is very solid. Make sure to read the instructions before printing.

This was a different approach for me than usual. I had to design the box so it would fit on 8.5 X 11 paper and I wanted it to use one sided printing. I went through about 5 prototypes before I found one I was happy with.

I then created the blueprints and textures for the project. This was a great deal of fun and allowed me to flex my Photoshop muscles for a change.

It's also unfortunate that most Papercraft projects have poor documentation, so I tried hard to make the instructions easy to follow. So grab the files and build yourself a new box to hold your cards for the next tournament."

Criação do designer e modelista Matt Milam, do site Firebrand Creations.

The Jumping Dog Game - A Vintage Meiji Era Japanese Paper Toy
by Yume Omochae

I posted this vintage Japanese paper model here on the blog in May 2013. It came from a website called Yume Omochae, which unfortunately no longer exists.

Since I had the template saved on my old CDs, I decided to repost it by hosting the file on Google Drive.

I didn't have any information about this template, such as who created it or the year it was made. Using Google Translator, I only managed to get a few words, like "sweet times" and "May". Well, in May I already knew that in Japan they celebrate "Kodomo no Hi," also known as Children's Day or Boys' Festival.

There are several posts published on this blog with this theme. Just search for the tags "Japanese," "culture," and "kids."

It is a day dedicated to celebrating and honoring children, especially boys, wishing them health, happiness, and success in their future lives. During Kodomo no Hi, families display colorful carp streamers called "koinobori," which represent wishes for strength and courage for boys.

Samurai helmets, swords, and other objects associated with the warrior tradition are also displayed, symbolizing bravery and protection. It is a day to value and appreciate children and promote their healthy and happy growth.

As for the time it was published, I noticed that the children's clothes are in a Western style and the boy's outfit is a sailor suit. Further research revealed that Japanese children wore sailor-style clothes during the period known as the "Meiji Era" in Japan, which took place between 1868 and 1912.

During this time, there was significant modernization and Westernization in the country, including the adoption of certain elements of Western fashion.

Sailor-style clothes were inspired by the attire of European sailors and became popular as school uniforms for boys and girls during the Meiji Era and beyond.

These clothes were characterized by blouses with sailor collar-style collars and flaps, paired with shorts or matching skirts. The tradition of wearing sailor-style uniforms in Japanese schools is still observed to this day.
