Landing Of Columbus In America Vintage Diorama Paper Model
Preserved And Shared by Papermau

This beautiful paper model diorama representing the landing of Columbus in America , was originally published in 1946 by Atlantida, an Argentinian publisher. Download easily, directly from Google Docs.

The composition of the diorama is quite interesting, setting aside the dimensions to highlight Columbus, the main character.

The discovery of America refers to Christopher Columbus's arrival in the Caribbean islands in 1492, on behalf of the Catholic Monarchs of Spain.

Columbus was in search of a western route to the Indies, but instead, he reached the unknown lands of America.

This event marked the beginning of European colonization of the American continent. Classic perspectives on the discovery of America, mainly propagated in the centuries following Columbus's arrival, celebrated him as a hero and considered the discovery a triumph of European civilization.

This view glorified European explorers and downplayed the negative impacts of colonization on indigenous populations, such as exploitation, slavery, and the devastation of local cultures.

On the other hand, the revisionist perspective, which gained strength from the 20th century onwards, challenges this traditional view.

It highlights the negative aspects of colonization, including the brutal exploitation of native peoples, the spread of diseases that devastated indigenous populations, and the destruction of indigenous cultures.

Additionally, revisionists argue that it wasn't a "discovery" in the true sense, as American lands were already inhabited by native peoples long before Columbus's arrival.

In summary, the classic perspective celebrates Columbus and European colonization of America, while the revisionist perspective emphasizes the negative impacts and questions the concept of "discovery," giving more importance to the pre-existing presence of indigenous cultures in the Americas.

Baixe facilmente direto do Google Docs.

Brazil Maru And Argentina Maru Paper Models - by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines

Offered by Canon and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines websites, here are the paper models of the Brazil Maru and Argentina Maru, two ships that were significant for commercial and cultural development between Japan and South American countries in the early 20th century.

These two models can only be viewed and downloaded when accessing the Canon website using the Japanese language. Any other language will hide these models. Nevertheless, I'll provide the correct link below, so you don't have to worry about that.

The Brazil Maru was a passenger vessel that disembarked in Santos, São Paulo, on June 18, 1908.

It brought the first Japanese immigrants to Brazil, initiating a significant Japanese migration to the country.

Approximately 781 Japanese immigrants arrived onboard the ship, mostly farmers seeking opportunities in Brazilian lands.

This Japanese immigration to Brazil played an important role in Brazilian history and culture, contributing to the formation of the Japanese community in the country and enriching Brazil's cultural diversity.

The Argentina Maru was built in 1939 by Osaka Shosen, also known as Osaka Mercantile Steamship Co., Ltd, a predecessor of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines.

This ship was a cargo and passenger vessel. The Argentina Maru, also known as "Burashi 'Ru Maru'", was part of the fleet of ships used by the Japanese company for transporting goods and passengers between Japan and other countries, including Argentina and Brazil.

During World War II, many Japanese ships, including cargo and passenger vessels, were mobilized for military purposes, and the Argentina Maru was no exception.

Le Corbusier`s Maison Curutchet In Argentina - by F. Garrido

A cool model of Le Corbusier`s Maison Curutchet, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, by Argentinian designer F. Garrido.

"Architecture is the wise, correct and magnificent play of volumes gathered under light; our eyes are made to perceive shapes under light" - Le Corbusier

Charles-Édouard Jeanneret, better known as Le Corbusier , (1887 –1965), was an architect, designer, urbanist and writer, famous for being one of the pioneers of what is now called modern architecture. He was born in Switzerland and became a French citizen in 1930.

His career spanned five decades, with his buildings constructed throughout Europe, India and America. He was a pioneer in studies of modern high design and was dedicated to providing better living conditions for the residents of crowded cities.

Le Corbusier adopted his pseudonym in the 1920s, allegedly deriving it in part from the name of a distant ancestor, "Lecorbésier." - Wikipedia
